To thank you and with cooperation with Kissamitakis Guesthouse we offer a 2-day stay for 2 people in the guesthouse which is located in the Monemvasia Castle, Greece

A fantastic view from a very beautiful traditional guesthouse and great Greek hospitality by a polite, pleasant, friendly and professional owner.

The town is located on a small island off the east coast of the Peloponnese and is linked to the mainland by a short causeway 200m in length. Its area consists mostly of a large plateau some 100 metres above sea level, up to 300 m wide and 1 km long, the site of a powerful medieval fortress. The old town of Monemvasia is a perfectly preserved medieval settlement still inhabited, a world cultural heritage monument and a major attraction for every traveller in the Peloponnese. It has a unique, magical atmosphere and a fascinating history. Monuments and churches are scattered throughout the old town. An important archaeological collection is housed in the old mosque in the Square of Elkomenos Christos. Another cultural heritage is the house of the Greek poet Yiannis Ritsos. The town comes alive to watch its amazing sunset from various areas of the castle. Continue your strolling through its cobblestone alleys and you find yourself surrounded by numerous cafes, restaurants, bars, traditional buildings and various shops. During summer time, the nightlife is rich and intense, where the small streets are filled with many locals and tourists. Magic! This town is definitely a magic!! It’s one of my favourites in Greece!!!

The neighborhood

George’s home is located in Monemvasía, Laconia, Greece

There is the amazing view, the sea and the long shingle beaches, but there is also an incredible sense of history and beautifully preserved buildings; bars and restaurants; friendly and welcoming people – and everything is within walking distance.

Getting around

Built in the shadow of the rock on which the medieval fortress town stands, the new town of Monemvasia, Gefyra (Greek: Γέφυρα) has become a tourist destination in its own right. Bridge stores sell the region’s traditional delicacies, the most famous being its almond sweets. In the town, itself is the beach of Kakavos and a little further out are Pori and the beaches of Nomia. The seat of the municipality is the town Molaoi.

* There is a regular bus service (every 30 minutes) between Gefyra and the fortress of Monemvasia.
