Santorini’s Best Greek Food dishes
The Best Greek Restaurant? Santorini is the island that conquers our imagination and dreams long before it captures our gaze. Its imposing natural beauty and its unreal Architecture, its renowned sunset but equally impressive sunrise are breathtaking as soon as the traveler sets foot at this Thera. In addition, Santorini’s authentic Vegan Cuisine it’s mouthwatering! The island has a few traditional Greek Food ones.
Tomatokeftedes – “Meat” Balls
Those round flatten balls are made from small thick-skinned tomato. These cherry tomatoes tend to be disappeared. Only one factory is still working. Tourism replaced the production of it. It is unlikely that you would find similar tomatoes anywhere else in Greece. What makes them unique is that are waterless and that they keep all the sweetness inside. This product has come from Italy at the time when the island was owned by the Venetians.
You can find them, in every Restaurant in Santorini and they are absolutely delicious!!!! I couldn’t resist eating them every day.
Just make sure that does NOT contain fish. In a few places, they add fish to the mix.
Fava (Broad Beans)
It is a species of flowering plant in the pea and bean family Fabaceae. Particularly tasty and it’s used in Santorini as Italians use Pasta! You can also find it in every restaurant in Santorini.
Stuffed Vegetables
A summer delicious dish that you can find in every best Greek restaurant! You can find a few stuffed veggies. The most common is eggplants, peppers, and tomatoes. But few restaurants have zucchini and potato also. My favorite summer dish! Just make sure is only filled with rice and not minced meat. In some places, they put meat on them.

Svoronos Bakery – Vegan-Friendly
A nice Bakery to enjoy your breakfast! Here you can find a few baked goods as the Greek traditional raisin bread. (Stafidopsomo in Greek). They also have a coffee stand and tables outside. Ask them for Nistisima goodies (This is how we call Vegan products in Greece).
– KARTERADOS VILLAGE –
Crepaki – Vegan Friendly
Nice freshly made Sandwiches. I filled it with cucumbers, tomato, red peppers, olives, and mushrooms. Tossed with mustard sauce. Accompanied by fresh orange juice. The Bakery of Pyrgos – Vegan Friendly
This Bakery is on the main road of Pyrgos coming from Fira and it’s one of the best in Pyrgos! Fresh delicious morning products served every day by a beautiful lady. I tried the Loukoumas (round/sugary one) and three flavors of breadsticks (corn, brown flour, and sun-dried tomato). Loved all of them!
This place is in Thira center. Fresh fruit, Greek superfoods are only some of their favorite materials to work with, in a gastronomic exploration of Mediterranean cuisine and diet. Guys here prepare tasteful suggestions to enjoy any time of the day, from salads to sandwiches, giving the utmost importance to the quality and source of our products. The passion they have for natural nutrition has inspired them to create a different food spot with delicious snacks and drinks, prepared in-store with pure, local, and organic ingredients.

Katharos Lounge – Vegetarian / Vegan
Katharos Lounge is a Vegan / Vegetarian Restaurant 20 minutes walk away from OIA center. Many restaurant guests often refer to Katharos Lounge as a unique place. It is indeed! The scenery, the sunset view, the surrounding, the food, the staff. Everything is magic! Their menu has Vegan, Vegetarian, and Gluten-Free options. I suggest you visit it during sunset. Together with the food try their excellent Vinsando wine. Highly recommended! Regarding the Greek Vegan Food, I have tried the Bruschetta topped with peas, cherry tomatoes, and peas. An explosion of various tastes in my mouth. One of the best Greek Restaurant!
– FIRA –
FalafeLAND – Vegetarian / Vegan
The best falafel in whole Santorini! Crunchy outside, juicy inside, and with hummus! Generally, the majority of the shops that serve falafel their sauce is not hummus but tzatziki. FalafeLAND serves hummus. Try it out. It is located 5 minutes walk from the main square, on the main road. The Best wrap!
Souvlaki, Pita, and More – Vegan Friendly
Another place where you can find falafel but they do not have hummus. Instead, I put mustard and ketchup. Not really an original falafel wrap but it was nice. The Best Souvlaki!

– AKROTIRI –
The Cave of Nikolas – Vegan Friendly
Akrotiri beach. By the sea, lies for many years a small, traditional cave, build by Uncle Nikolas with his own hands when he was young. Made with lots of love and passion, the cave offered a kind of shelter to himself and his little boat.
In 1981, the “Cave of Nicolas” went on to their daughter, Margarita, who had learned the art of cooking from Mr. Marinatos wife. Her love for traditional cuisine and local products, which she and her husband, Nicolas grow, gave her a Gourmet Prize, as the best traditional tavern for 2007-2008 in Santorini.
– EXO GONIA –
METAXI MAS – Vegan Friendly
– Perissa –

What a great place! It’s right on the beach and here you can find food all day long. Just relax and here you can enjoy delicious cocktails, smoothies, huge salads, traditional Greek beans as beans, good music, nice alternative decoration, and extremely nice staff!
Zotos Family Pastry – Vegan Friendly
A nice pastry shop with polite staff and unique Vegan ice cream flavors in the middle of Fira, near the caldera. I tried the raspberry οne and it had a velvety texture, was not so sweet, and with bittersweet flavor. Loved it! They have quite a few other Vegan flavors to try.

Love your guide, even if I am Greek haha! I have visited Santorini many times but I always have been disappointed by the food (you know what I mean) especially as a vegetarian myself. But now I am keen to go again! Thanks for that 🙂
Oh wow, everything looks delicious! Your photo of stuffed vegetables has me dreaming of all the delicious stuffed tomatoes and peppers I’ve eaten in Greece and which I’ve never been able to replicate at home!
