Vegan bread Q&A
Why does my bread break on the top?
Most probably your oven its too hot.
What can I do if I forgot the yeast?
No problem at all. Just add yeast into little warm water and let it rise for 10 minutes. Fold it to the dough and knead for 5 minutes more. The problem is solved!
How to tell if the bread is fully baked?
Take the loaf out of the oven and turn it upside down. Give the bottom of the loaf a firm thump! with your thumb, like striking a drum. The bread will sound hollow when it’s done. Another method is to look at the crust. It should be dry, very firm, and a deep golden brown color with darker spots here and there. If the crust is very pale, give it a few more minutes.
Why do I knead bread?
Kneading bread dough ensures all ingredients are fully mixed and strengthens the gluten which gives bread its structure and texture. Bread dough will start sticky and shaggy but should be kneaded until smooth and elastic.
