This Easy Green Smoothie is filled with kiwis, fresh apples, spinach, ginger, and almond milk. A fun, healthy and highly nutritious drink! It’s Perfect for detox on when you need to recharge your body! You will Love it!
How to Make a Weight Loss Green Smoothie
Step 1:
- Choose leafy green. (Spinach, kale or lettuce).
- Pick the liquid. Almond milk, coconut milk, oat milk, water or coconut water. If you use milk you will get a "milkshake consistency"
- Pick fruit to balance out the flavor of the green smoothie. My favorites are banana, apples or mango. You can also use kiwi, pineapple, avocado for greener color. I prefer to choose my fruits to get a thicker consistency.
- Pick your spices. Like ginger, chia seeds or other seeds you may like.
- Pick your nuts. I love almonds or walnuts.
- If you prefer your Green smoothie sweeter chose a sweetener like agave syrup or dates.
In this recipe for the leafy Green, I chose a handful of spinach, for the liquid 1 cup of Almond milk, for fruit 1 green apple, 1 red apple, 2 kiwis, half lime. For the spices, I use chia seeds and ginger. For the sweetener, I used 1 date.
Step 2: Put it all in a blender.
Step 3: Blend all very well until you get a nice consistency.
Step 4: Taste your smoothie for consistency. If more liquid is needed, add it. Depending on how thick you want.
Then make sure to drink this glowing green smoothie right after you blend it for the best consistency! If you have any leftovers just keep it in the fridge and before use just shake it a little bit. But keep reminded that it will taste the same.
TOP TIPS FOR MAKING A SMOOTHIE
- Be aware that the type of blender you use. The quality of the blender will determine the texture of your smoothie. Start at a slower speed and increase gradually. Place your liquid first so the ingredients will mix easier.
- You can freeze the fruits prior to use if you wish.
- You can adjust the amount of the almond milk to achieve the thickness you wish. Personally, I like it with a thick texture.
- A lot of people do hate greens of any kind, especially kids. If you do not like greens, smoothies are a great way to sneak greens into your diet. Yes, you can have greens in your smoothies and believe me, with a good combination can taste great! In this recipe, I added cucumber but you can substitute with handful spinach.
WHY THIS SMOOTHIE IS IDEAL FOR WEIGHT LOSS
This Smoothie is a nutritionally dense food, full of minerals, vitamins and can replace any meal of the day. If you are in a weight loss program you can replace your breakfast and dinner with this smoothie. If you want to move it a little further just do a 2-3 days smoothie detox. Just drink smoothies only all day. You will feel great after that!
HOW TO MAKE A PERFECT SMOOTHIE
- Start with putting some fruits (apples are easy if they are in season and bananas for sweetness) with some kind of liquid. You can either use water or start with some kind of juice, e.g. orange juice (that way you get a 100% fruit smoothie), or plant-based milk which are high in Protein
- Once you are past that stage, you can experiment with “Green Smoothies“ to add greens like kale, spinach, salad, or whatever other green leaves you have at home. My suggestion here would be to start with a small quantity, as the resulting smoothies do not taste as sweet.
- Essential for making smoothies is a powerful Blender (or you need to blend for a really long time for the smoothie to come, well, smooth).
- By using frozen fruits, you can get an ice-cold smoothie, but beware, blending frozen fruit or vegetables does, of course, can put a much higher strain on your blender than non-frozen food. I like to add these in small quantities to a running blender.
