Passion for Vegan Apple Pie Recipe
This Apple pie is just incredible! It's juicy inside and crunchy outside. I am sure you will Love it! For long as I remember I have loved cooking pastries. The first time I tried an Apple pie, was that magic moment that I fell in love with Patisserie. It was an explosion of all the senses!
Seems like, the combination of the bitter cinnamon, the sweetness of the roasted apples and the fluffy dough, opened my eyes to the world of pastry. The reason is most probably, because of my great love for cinnamon. For me, cinnamon is the Queen of the kitchen, I use it in many dishes and I confess that many times, secretly, I put it on my mom's cooking. Along with the coriander is one of my favorite spices.
Why This Vegan Apple Pie Recipe Works:
- This recipe has much fewer calories than the traditional one. If you avoid sugar you can omit it completely.
- The cinnamon gives a unique taste to the mixture.
- It's SUPER easy to make it. No special skills are needed!
How to make the Vegan Apple Pie
Probably, you may have noticed that I always start all my recipes with collecting and arranging my ingredients first. This helps me not to stress out and the preparation becomes more pleasant.
Arrange the ingredients for the Vegan Apple Pie Recipe Filling
Vegan Apple Pie Filling
Wash the apples, peel them and cut them in small pieces. (you can add a bit of lemon, to prevent them from getting brown).
Add the apples in a saucepan with the sugar and the cinnamon, in medium heat. Just also a dash of water. Let them simmer until you get a caramelized form. They look delicious and gorgeous already right? Put them aside to cool.
Prepare the ingredients for the Apple Pie Dough
Put all the ingredients in a big bowl and mix them well until you get a soft dough. Split the dough into 2 portions.
As soon as I start to knead my dough, I feel a glimmer of happiness. While I am kneading it, I forget everything. The velvety texture as slips through my fingers. I do not think of anything else these moments.
Wrap them well and put them in the freezer for at least 2 hours.
Take out of the freezer the dough and shred the half portion at the bottom of a well-buttered pan.
Add the Caramelised apples and cover all the areas of the pan.
Shred the other half portion of the frozen dough on the top of the filling. (Top Layer)
Bake it in a preheated oven for around an hour. Once you remove the pie from the oven, let it cool a little bit and if you desire, remove it from the pan.
Serve and Enjoy!
Cook’s Tips For Perfect Vegan Apple Pie:
- Make sure that your butter is soft enough. It will make your dough fluffier.
- Instead of sugar in the filling, you can add Maple syrup instead. Just be aware that it is sweeter than the sugar.
- For an extra aroma flavor, use cardamon.
- Carefully choose your apples – Prefer the green or the yellow ones for extra flavor.
- Perfect for breakfast time, I can confess that the next day it tastes even better.
- Best served with Ginger Tea!
Top Tip:
- Serve it cold. As it cools down the Apple Pie releases all of its Aroma! It's absolutely delicious!

My Passion for Vegan Apple Pie Recipe
Ingredients
For the Crust
- 2.5 cups all purpose flour
- ¼ cup soft vegan butter in room temperature
- ½ cup brown or white sugar
- 3 tablespoon warm water
For the Filling
- ½ cup brown sugar
- 7-8 apples peeled and cut in small cubes
- 2 tablespoon lemon juice
- 2 teaspoon cinnamon
Instructions
For the Topping and Bottom (Dough)
- Place the flour in a bowl and add the soft butter. Add the sugar, knead and add water accordingly until you get a smooth and fluffy dough. Cut in half, wrap it in a clean film and put it in the freezer for 2 hours.
For the filling
- Put your pan on low heat, add the apples, sugar, and cinnamon and mix well. Cook until the apples get soft and with a caramelized texture, around 20 minutes.
To assemble the pie
- Put little butter in the bottom of a medium pan. Remove the dough from the freezer, take the half of it and use a grater to rub the dough on the bottom of the pan. As you can see on the picture I used the big holes grater. Fill with the apple mix, evenly around the pan. Rub the other half of the dough on the top of it.
- Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C).
- Bake 45 minutes in a preheated oven. After 20 minutes reduce the temperature to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Continue baking for 25 minutes more, until the dough gets a golden colour.
Notes
- Make sure that your butter is soft enough. It will make your dough fluffier.
- Instead of sugar in the filling, you can add Maple syrup instead. Just be aware that it is sweeter than the sugar.
- For an extra aroma flavor, use cardamon.
- Carefully choose your apples – Prefer the green or the yellow ones for extra flavor.
- Perfect for breakfast time, I can confess that the next day it tastes even better.
- Best served with Ginger Tea!
