What is the best flour for making Pizza Dough?
As the type of dough determines a good pizza, more than any other ingredient - water, yeast, salt - good flour is a defining element. This affects:
1. How delicious it is, if it has a slightly chewy texture and if it comes out so soft that it folds without breaking.
2. If it swells so that it is baked to ‘grab’ at the highest points from the temperature
3. If, when you eat it, it will be very light and airy - you accompany it with beer or wine, not cola.
One of the best flour to use is All-purpose flour. But if you prefer to use bread flour, by all means, use it!
Yeast in Vegan Pizza Recipe
- Add the yeast in a medium-size bowl with lukewarm water.
- Stir very well and let it rest for 5 minutes.
- Yeast is active when seeing bubbles.
How to make the dough
There are 2 ways to make the dough. Mixing by Machine or Mixing by Hand.
Mixing By Machine
Adjust the hook in the machine. Add the oil, flour, sugar, salt. Start mixing at low speed, scrape the around surface, keep mixing, raise the speed and mix until you get a smooth elastic dough.
Mixing By Hand

Mix oil, flour, sugar, salt in a bowl and start kneading until the flour comes in a dough.

Put flour on a clean surface and place the dough.
- Knead until dough is smooth and elastic. Approximately 10 minutes.

Place it in a bowl and cover it.
- Place it warm area and let it rise for 1-2 hours.
- Once it's ready, divide it into 1-2 balls. Let is rest for 30 minutes.
How long to knead?
Pizza dough should be soft, elastic, and pliable. Knead approximately 7-10 minutes by hand and 5 minutes by machine. Do not over-knead.
Can I freeze pizza dough?
As soon as the dough is risen cut it in pizza portions, place it in freezer bags and store in the freezer for up 3 months. Let it thaw overnight in the fridge and in-room temperature before use it.
At what temperature shall I bake it?
Pizza should be baked in a hot oven at 450F.
STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS
In a bowl mix nutritional yeast with oregano (Photo 5)
Add little on the top of the tomato sauce (Photo 6)
Slice green peppers and mushrooms and add them on the nutritional yeast (Photo 7)
Add more nutritional yeast (Photo 8)
Bake at 450F for approximately 15-20 minutes until you get a golden crust (Photo 9,10)Enjoy!
Vegan Pizza Variations
- You can roast the mushrooms instead of raw
- Use sun-dried tomatoes instead of green peppers. Spread traditional pizza sauce onto the dough instead of the cashew cream.
- Top your pizza with broccoli florets.
- Add fresh basil.
- Add pesto sauce instead of tomato sauce.
- Add fresh tomatoes instead of canned ones.
Tips to make the perfect Pizza Dough
- The hotter the oven the better contrast between a crispy exterior and soft interior will be.
- Use All-purpose flour. It gives a nicer texture.
- The sugar allows the yeast to feed off of it and gives your crust color when baking.

STORAGE
- Put it on the refrigerator for up to 1 week. If you wanna put it on the freezer, slice it, wrap it and put it in the freezer for up to 2 months.

Vegan Pizza Recipe
Ingredients
- 2 cups All-Purpose Flour
- 1 tablespoon dry yeast
- 4 tablespoon Olive Oil
- 3 tablespoon Almond Milk Lukewarm
- 3 tablespoon Water Lukewarm
- ⅓ tablespoon salt
Instructions
- In the bowl dissolve the yeast in a little warm of the water and add the sugar and the salt.
- Cover with cling film and leave to activate for 10 minutes. When it bubbles, the surface is ready.
- Add it a Machine bowl with flour and start kneading in low speed until you get an elastic dough.
- Let it rest and add it in a bow until it rises.
- We make 3 pizzas with a diameter of about 25 cm each.
- We open each piece of dough either with the fingertips, pressing in circular motions on a floured surface, or with a rolling pin if we want it to become thinner and crispier.
- We make sure that a groove is created around the perimeter and pinch it with a fork so the air can be released.
- In a bowl add a can of diced tomatoes, add 1 teaspoon dried basil, 1 teaspoon oregano, salt, 2 tablespoons of olive oil, and mix.
- Cover the dough surface.
- In a bowl mix nutritional yeast with oregano.
- Add little on the top of the tomato sauce.
- Slice green peppers and mushrooms and add them on top of the nutritional yeast.
- Add more nutritional yeast on the top of the veggies.
- Bake at 450F for approximately 15-20 minutes until you get a golden crust. Enjoy!
